How Sans Works
This is the first line of defense. The pre-filter captures larger pollutants like hair and dust, allowing the layers that follow to do their job more efficiently.
HEPA stands for “high efficiency particulate air”, and HEPA 13 means a level of efficiency that is medical grade. Sans HEPA 13 filters remove at least 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns and 99.95% of particles down to 0.1 microns. How small is that? The average human hair is about 90 microns thick!
This is where the lion’s share of the work is done as the HEPA 13 filter catches viruses and bacteria, and allergens like pollen, dander, dust mites, and mold spores.
The pre-filter and HEPA 13 filter are responsible for capturing solid pollutants, but there are plenty of harmful chemicals floating around as gasses. This is where our activated carbon filter comes in, neutralizing volatile organic compounds including formaldehyde and lots of other chemicals that are come from common household items like cleaning products, personal care products, fabrics, furniture, and much more.
This is also the part that takes care of any odors that are hanging around, so your nose knows that Sans is giving you nothing but fresh, healthy air.
The UV-C light only affects what’s inside your Sans unit. Now that the other filters have trapped mold, viruses, and bacteria, you want to know that they can’t come back to harm you. Pulses of UV-C light neutralize these pathogens and microorganisms to make sure that they don’t grow on the filter and can’t make you sick.
